At Fox Hill Primary we always like to support good causes and each year we like to get dressed up, put on our spots and dots and raise as much money as we can for BBC Children in Need. This year we came to school in our spots and dots and as our favourite heroes. We had some fantastic costumes! We also held a special bake sale competition with some amazing entries. We then sold off all of the cakes and buns to help raise money. We are really proud that we were able to raise over £475! Thank you for your support and generosity with this.
Today we held a 1 minute silence at 11am as a mark of respect for Paris following the tragic events at the weekend. Our thoughts are with the families of those lost or hurt.
Over the past week, demolition work has commenced on our old school building. This has progressed rapidly with much of the building now gone. Here are a few images:
We had many happy memories in our old school and it is sad to see it go. We have reminded the children to keep away from the site and we look forward to it soon been turned into our new sports field.
Today in school we had a 2 minute silence at 11am as a mark of respect. This is because at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month the Two Minute Silence is observed on Armistice Day, the day which marks the end of the First World War. It is also a time for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves and those who continue to fight to secure and protect our freedom.
This morning the children in Y3, Y3/4 and Y4 held their exhibition to showcase all of their learning about the Victorians. The exhibition began with children demonstrating what a Victorian lesson would have been like – all of the adults had to join in and complete their ABC and some arithmetic! This was then followed by children showcasing some fantastic art, literacy and topic work on display around the room. Adults were also invited to join the children for tea and cakes.
A big well done to all of the children and staff for a fantastic exhibition and thank you to all of our families who came along to support. We hope you enjoyed the morning.
